Llyn Brenig Fishing Report Week Ending 11th June

This week has been warmer than last with average temperature of 22 C
with light winds blowing mainly in a southerly direction. The water
temperature is up from last week and is at 15.5 C.

The rod average is down from last week but still a healthy 4.2 fish per
angler. The boat hotspots are between the Visitor Centre and Dam, Hafod
Lom woods and by the ring of stones. The best fishing methods on the
boats have been slime lines down to DI 3 lines fished with wets and
hoppers. Coral and orange boobies are still catching fish. The bank
hotspots have been both sides of the Brenig Arm, Sailing Club Bay and
between the Visitor Centre and Dam. The most productive fishing method
off the bank has been floating lines with dries.

The heaviest bag of the week went to Ken Jones of Denbigh who caught 6
fish for 34 lb with one fish weighing 9lb and his boat partner John
Rogers also from Denbigh caught 6 fish for 21lb. They caught the
majority of fish between the Visitor Centre and the Dam.

There a still six places left on the fly fishing course which will be
held on Sunday the 18th of June. For more information please contact the
rangers office on 01490 420 463.

The ladies international fly fishing competition is being held this week
and all the boats are booked up until Thursday and with the weekend
looking busy it is advisable to book a boat.

Closing Date for the DCWW/Airflo Competition is on 1st August so hurry
with your entries! Also, bookings for Pike Fishing week are going fast
so book early to avoid disappointment.
