Default Fishing is Largely Luck

I out fished my son 12-0 from 11 am until 3 pm last Saturday. He out
fished me 11-3 from 3 until dark. Clearly, early fishing is based on
skill, presentation, etc. Later in the day luck takes over.

Of course by 3 he had lost all the flies that were not working and
when we met up I told him what was and he used them to great
advantage. So maybe I WILL take credit for his later success. (So
maybe not luck)

It was a beautiful 75 degrees. All fish were under 12" wild rainbows
and were released unharmed to be later poached by a baitfishing
poacher.

Hi Pamannii,

You could call it luck. Or you could call it your son's
excellent observation of his father. Fishermen in training
do tend to watch their father's every move. And, you are
allowed to do a bit of grinnin' and struttin' over your
son's new found skills.

Sounds like you guys had a blast!
