Default NO FISHING POSTINGS at Lake Havasu

A while back I mentioned what I believed to be illegal postings of no
fishing in some of the Marinas at Lake Havasu. I got replies from Az G&F
that basically I could fish there and they could not say anything about it.

Today I finally received a reply from the Arizona State Attorney General's
Office.

I finally got a reply from the State Attorney General's Office.

** High Priority **

Dear Mr. La Londe:

Thank you for your inquiry to the Attorney General's Office regarding "No
Fishing" postings at Lake Havasu.

As a general rule, public lands and waters, including those under lease,
cannot be posted "no fishing" or "no hunting" except by consent of the
Arizona Game and Fish Commission. See A.R.S. § 17-304. However, state
authorities and laws generally do not supersede federal authorities for
management of federal lands. Nonetheless, the Arizona Game and Fish
Department shares your concern regarding the "no fishing" posting at the
Havasu Springs marina harbor. Because this marina is affixed to federal
land, the Department would like to work with you and the Bureau of Land
Management to improve access to this area for fishing. Please contact Larry
Voyles, Region IV Manager, Arizona Game and Fish Department, at (928)
342-0091 so he can assist you further in this matter.

Sincerely,

Shelley D. Cutts
Assistant Attorney General
