Default Fly line recommendation

Much as I love these hardy smuggler rods, they do get very soft as they
get longer. Although I frequently argue for 8' and upwards rods under
almost any circumstances, I find the shorter (ie 7' or so) smugglers
better.

I hesitate to say this, given the row that's been going on, but I will
anyway:

I think that on this sort of slow rod (which is no bad thing on many
rivers, in particular), a DT line is a much sweeter cast. I fish both
dt and wf on my smugglers, but the dt s work much better.
