Default Effective Fly

I live near Spokane, Washington, and I have had a lot of fun nearby fishing
lakes with this fly. It works well on bluegill and trout for me. I gave one
to a friend, and he did well with it as well.
Hook: 9671 #10
Body: gold braid
Wing: grizzly maribou
Underside (beard): white maribou, same length as the wing.
Head: hare's ear fur, loop dubbed, making a fat shaggy head that makes up
roughly one third of the fly.
Make the wing and beard only slightly longer than the nape of the hook.

Exactly. I am not particularly good at trimming deer's hair heads, so I used
heavily dubbed rabbit fur. It works.
