The wind blew 20 mph today, so FLW cancelled the 2nd day of competition.
Seemed a little drastic to me. A lot of guys who were trying to save their
best fish while catching just enough to qualify when the field is cut after
day 2, ended up going home early when the 2nd day of qualifying was
eliminated.

The day 1 leader ran all the way down to Ti and fished LM in the same weed
beds I was fishing a couple weeks ago, to weigh in just under 20 pounds. He
was planning on just trying to catch 12 or 14 pounds of smallies today,
without making the run, to save those LM for the finals. Seems like Ma
nature saved them for him. Local favorite Tom Lavictorie also ran down
there, and had more than 20 pounds, but didn't allow enough time to get
back in.

The amateur leader is a friend of mine. Caught all his fish cranking.
Losing a day of qualifying probably helps him some.

From what I hear, the inside weedline spinnerbait bite for LM is on, while
the smallies are beginning to stack on the points.
