Default Need advice for pre spawn tactics

Guys,

Blanked the othe day on the small (550 acre) lake next to my home here in
central Illinois.

I pounded the banks w/ spinnerbaits, cranks and jointed minnows. A few short
strikes but nada...
Tried deep w/ senko rigged wacky, texas...nada

Typical conditions:

Water temp: 58-62
Pre-emergent weeds (sparse growth at this time)
Water stained, muddy visibility poor 8" to 12"
Saw lots of fish deep 8' to 12' suspended
Weather is yo yoing between spring fronts
Lake depth goes to 22', long, somewhat narrow, stream fed, fine silt bottom
mostly.

What should I try and key on for presentations for this time of year?

Suthern

In central IL, bass should be in the pre-spawn feeding stage, but sounds
like fluctuating weather has shut them down. Even then, they can be enticed
to bite. Just fish twice as slowly as you do later in the summer. And then,
if you're not getting bit, slow it down even farther. Drop-shotting would
be a good choice in your case.

the page to pick up some tips from a buddy of ours, one of the partners at
Driftwood Lures in Frankfort, KY.

Yesterday, could not get a bite until I just let my fluke sit there on the
bottom, and even then it was so subtle, never felt the fish, just saw the
line twitch momentarily
