Default Mike C: question

Hey Mike:
What was the brand and type of fishing reel you showed me that twisted
off at 90-degrees to cast, and then twisted back parallel to the rod to
retrieve?

Sounds like an Alvey Sidecaster, a popular reel here in Australia. My first
ever fishing rig apart from a pine sapling with cord line was a pine sapling
with runners bound on by twine and an alvey sidecaster. Many a redfin
(english perch) was taken with the above rig .

Hi Riverman,

That brings back memories.

I modified a simple centre-pin reel to do just that - over 50 years ago.

I couldn't afford a "threadline " reel and had to make do.

Damn I missed a trick there :-)
