Outboard fuel consumption
I have a TR17 Triton with a 120hp Force on it.I put my boat in at Lake
Oconee in Georgia, It is 32 miles from the ramp I use to the Damn. My boat has a 26 gallon tank. If I leave the ramp with a full tank and run to damn and back at WOT my boat will use a little over a quarter of a tank.of fuel. I'm guessing it is getting about 8-9 miles per gallon. Its only gas and I enjoy riding in my boat. As long as they still sell gas I'll keep riding. |

Outboard fuel consumption
I was told this. I have a carburated 135 merc on a 17 champion. at
5000 rpm the 135 would burn 13.5 gallons per hour. for a 150 it would burn 15.0 gallons per hour. I have a 23 gallon tank. at 5000 rpm i run at 50 to 55 mph. 6 trips? wow, nice charles! small lakes and mostly trolling? gil "Charles B. Summers" (Comcast) wrote in message ... Just curious as to what you think you are getting in terms of miles per gallon on your outboard. The tank in my Nitro is 26 gallons, and with my 90hp Mercury I can make about 6 good trips before needing to refill again. I haven't check the mpg, but the next time that I'm out and know I'll be making some longer runs, I'll check the distance on my gps and then sompare it to how many gallons I used. I'm sure that the size of the boat and how much gear plays a big part, but what do you think you average? List the boat lenght, and outboard size too if you would. Thanks |

Most of you will get the best fuel economy running between 3200 to 3600

Outboard fuel consumption
Just briefly going on the figures, I guess I averaged about 3.5 miles a
gallon this weekend on Dale Hollow. Not much WOT running, but alot of pushing water going real slow in the darkness. -- Visit Charles at: www.thebasspro.net www.secretweaponlures.com www.outdoorfrontiers.com www.midtennclassic.org "Charles B. Summers" (Comcast) wrote in message ... Haven't added the foil yet... just waiting for the next trip to BPS. I'm not overly concerned about the mileage that I'm getting right now, but was wondering what to expect when I do check it. Seems that 3 mpg is pretty much what everyone is finding. Something I didn't even think about until after I posted this... was how many times did the contenders at the Bassmaster Classic have to stop and refill on those 2-4 hour runs they made??? "Steve Erwin" wrote in message ... Hey Charles, did you put the foil on? If you start and stop a lot, and it takes a little longer to plane out than you would like, that is where a heck of a lot of fuel is going. I don't know if you run and gun type of fishin, but if you do and you put the foil on then you will see a big decrease in fuel consumption. "Charles B. Summers" (Comcast) wrote in message ... All,
Have to agree with the 10% of hp is the ball park figure for how many gallons of gas your carberated (never could spell) outboard will burn in an hour... Lots of folks talking here in mpg and i just don't understand how you can use that given the differences that current and wind can play in speed. I have a smaller ob so maybe that's why it works for me... Bill wrote in message om... I was told this. Outboard fuel consumption
The six trips is a guess... but not making any really long runs. Heck, Percy
Priest is only about 30 miles long following the channel from one end to the other. I figure if I ran that distance and back, starting with a full tank I'd be almost empty on my return. PP Sure seems smaller after that trip to Dale Hollow, but huge after a trip to Boom. wrote in message om... I was told this. Outboard fuel consumption
I have a mercury 90 on a Key West 1720 (17 ft). I have noticed that
when running at about 3800 rpm my fuel consumption is much better then when I run wide open (no dah), my point is I can go 20 miles on 3 gallons of gas (at 3800 rpm) versing wide open (5500 rpm) burning 6 gallons of gas going the same 20 miles. The speed difference seems to only be a couple miles per hour difference and it saves a bunch of money. Dang does this make any sence? I am even having a hard time following my point. -Eric ------------------------------------------------ www.sal****ersportswear.com Best Fishing Shirts in Town! I think you'd need to figure gallons per mile... instead of miles per
gallon! "Steve @ OutdoorFrontiers" wrote in message ... "Charles B. Summers" (remove extra dot) wrote in message ...
