For those who did, if you HAD any doubts about Kerry being some sort of
"breath of fresh air" or whatever, Tad Devine (...I wonder if he has to
pay John Waters a royalty to use that name...) on "Meet the Press"
should have dispelled any such silly notions. I figured there was at
least a small chance that at any moment he'd start stamping his feet
blurt out, "OF COURSE THE 'SWIFT BOAT' VETS ARE RIGHT!!! BUT IT'S NOT
FAIR, DAMMIT!!! We ed. note - his firm got screwed on Gore, and now
this!!! Mommy!!!" No such luck, of course, theater-wise, but
all-in-all, I give it a "thumbs up" as must-see TV...and I believe it's
repeated on MSNBC and on (some?) late-night TV on NBC affiliates for
those interested.

....Ol' Tad on Sunday morning makes Jimmy Swaggart seem sincere...and I
did notice Tim looked like he was expecting the lightning strike...

The Swift Boat episode is further proof that Texas is a fine place to buy
liars. To bad we bought the biggest one they had four years ago.

I did watch John O'Neill on NPR the other night. Oliphant laughed
in his face and called him a liar on national TV. At the end of the
segment Lehrer let O'Neill spell out his website then asked Oliphant
where folks could go for more info on the "other side" of the issue.
He snickered and said just read the daily press.

By an odd coincidence I happened to see the same segment. I'm not
particularly interested in either side of this silly argument (4 months
in a stupid war 30+ years ago doesn't make you more or less fit to be
president IMHO), but Oliphant came off as a condescending liberal
elitist. While it may make those of you on the far left feel good about
yourselves I doubt it helped Kerry with the centrist vote.

Well, he IS a condescending, liberal elite. But if you listened to
Oliphant tick off the facts of O'Neill's long history of failed
attempts to smear Kerry, as Nixon's surrogate immediately after the
war and John Warner's (then Navy Sec'y, now Senator and chairman of
the Armed Services Cmte) repudiation of that attempt, to all of those
Massachusetts Senate races, even the most partisan would realize the
guy has zero credibility. Besides, I doubt many "centrists" watch PBS
News Hour. That's the "secret handshake" of the American lefties. ;-)

Count me among the few. But I draw the line at "NOW with Bill Moyers" :-)
