Default Fishing Punta Cana

" Last July of 1993, the first Blue Marlin fishing tournament sponsored
by
the Club Nautico de Santo Domingo, held in Cabeza de Toro, Dominican
Republic, was a great success. Hoping to become rivals of the annual
Puerto Rican Blue Marlin Tournament, the Board from the Club Nautico de
Santo Domingo planned this tournament without knowing what to expect.
Well, the result was beyond their comprehension. The percentage of
boats
that caught fish surpassed the Puerto Rican average. Marlin were
caught in
weight ranges of 200 to 800 pounds, and several boats reported losing
fish
that could have very well taken a world record. Looks like the Blue
Marlin
have learned to stay away from Puerto Rico, and have migrated about 50
miles west to make their new home right of Punta Cana, Dominican
Republic.
It is my opinion that this region of the world is one of the hottest
Blue
Marlin spots in the world. I also believe that you will not find any
more
information on this subject because it was a small tournament, and it
is
virtually impossible to fish these waters unless you own your own boat.
There is hardly any chartering on the island, but if you really want
to,
you can check with various resorts in the Punta Cana area of the
Dominican
Republic. Good luck! "
