Default What kind of line do you use?

I have always used Berkley Trilene XL.

But I've been tempted to try other brands (such as Stren, Tuf Line,
Spider Wire).

What are your opinions?

Are there an braided lines that cast as good as Trilene mono?

Thanks!

I like Stren origional, and rarely will I ever switch to a different brand.
My newest exception to this, is that I just bought 10700yds of the Trilene
XL at a fishing show last month. So, I think I'll be using that for awhile,
LOL.

I use XL, Original Stren and Stren Easy Cast on my spinning reels and all
three lines have served me well. I'll be sticking with those, there are
other things I need to do to improve my results more than change lines.

The water that I fish is populated with toothy critters (i.e. northern pike
and muskies), plus I fish a lot of thick cover. Consequently, I have a
tendancy to fish heavier line than most.

My bass baitcast reels get spooled with 50 pound PowerPro braided line. I
like the way it casts, I like it's small diameter to strength ratio, and I
especially like it's resistance to those toothy critters.

The majority of my spinning reels are spooled with 8 and 10 pound PowerPro
as well. I have a couple spinning reel spools that do have mono type line
on them. One new reel is spooled with a line sent to me by an Indonesian
company for evaluation, the other spare spools are filled with 10 and 12
pound YoZuri Hybrid line.

For a mono type line, the YoZuri Hybrid is pretty nice stuff. It's tough,
low stretch and casts well. It still doesn't hold up to toothy critters as
well as PowerPro though.

I often use Berkeley Trilene XL in 6 - 12 lb. on my spinning reels,
because I think it behaves better than most. Other lines such as Stren
seem to twist more and foul the reel. I'd like XL better if it didn't
have so much stretch or was more abrasion resistant, but that would
change everything, wouldn't it?
I hear good things about Berkely Fireline for spinning and plan to
try it. I've already tried Spiderwire Fusion (a couple of years back)
and it stinks for spinning. ..........Dave
