You're quite welcome.

Do some bass fishing out of my kayak *and think a 6wt is the way to
go----most of my fish are small but the ocassional hooter *just give
me a fun fight. * JOE the Elder

Thanks Joe. I have several bass spots near me (central Mississippi)
with some fairly large fish. I also have family near the coast and
thought a 7wt might work for some sal****er fishing as well.

After reading a bit, I do think an 8 wt is a bit too much.

I use an 8 wt (or 9 wt) for striped bass , steelhead, salmon and
bonefish
All Powerful sea run fish
You are right in saying it's too heavy
6 wt is perfect

Good luck and have fun

I regularly (when I'm in the region) fish for pretty big LMB (4-5 lb
range) with my 5wt. Its a bit undergunned for the big ones, so yeah I
agree with a 6wt, for the most part. But my smallest sal****er rod
would be too big for a freshwater bass rod...I'd suggest a 5 or 6 wt
for Bass, and an 8 wt for salt water. If you try to get 'one rod fits
all', you'll have 'no rod fits either'.
