Default Slow retrieve spinnerbait

Hi any suggestions on a spinnerbait that works with a steady slow
retrieve?
Blade style size color?
The avg size I catch is 13"-14" I use 9' light rod with 8lb PP so want
to use a smallish spinnerbait
I bought this Culprit one but the blade doesnt spin at all at slow
speed.
http://www.culpritstore.com/catalog/...7712193065ff19
Though when I give it a jerk the blade spins well.
Lastly is Culprit a good brand?

Thanks
Ray

Ray, I don't know anything about the Culprit brand, but I can say nothing
but good things about the Secret Weapon Lures, especially the Sidearm
spinners. I get great action on the SWLs with nice oscillation, vibration,
and its ability to hold plane on a slow retrieve. Personally, I prefer a
slow retrieve on spinner baits and the SWLs are great for that. Go to

Get an SWL Pro Kit. You can take a heavy body and swap out to smaller
willow blades that will slow roll amazingly well. In fact that's one of the
trick Iaconnelli mentioned in his section in Bassin' magazine a couple
months ago. He said he likes to use about 2 sizes smaller willow blades on
a 3/4 bait and it makes for a bait he can retrieve fast or slow at greater
depth.

I second the SW lures suggestion, ounce for ounce the best spinnerbait on
the market. They have caught me a ton of quality fish

My news server is havign problems so I hope you get this reply.

There are several variables to this equation.

Do you want to buy some top dollar blades? An SWL pro kit might be the
ticket. This allows you to adjust the bait easily on the fly until you get
just what you want.

However, if you don't have the cash there are some things you can do. Any
standard cheap spinner bait can have the blades swapped around with a pair
of pliers. Iaconnelli likes to throw a large body spinnerbait with willow
blades two sizes smaller than standard according to his column in Bassin'
Magazine.

If I'm getting some hits when the bait is falling I have slid a worm weight
on the line in front of the blade bait. This gives a distinct nose down
fall and allows for slow rolling down deep. Another trick I have seen is to
take the rubber core out of a rubber core sinker and crimp it around the
lower wire of the bait. This makes for a heavier bait with a more
conventional fall.

Like I said, "There are several variables to this equation," and I'm not
sure we can answer your question thoroughyl without having a better
definition of what you are trying to achieve.

Well I dont want but one or two. I fish the same little 26 acre lake 98%
of my time.

I just want the blades to spin on a slow slow retrieve.

The Culprit one has a small willow blade but it doesnt spin when going
slow.
I read on the SWL site the Sidearm Spinner will do the trick- says
blades will spin on the slightest movement. The thing is no dealers in
IL:-(
Im not up to ordering off internet just yet. Thats just me though.

That's fine if you don't want to order online.

Simply figure out what you want, type a letter, enclose a check and send it
to the address on the website. You do trust the U.S. Postal Service, don't
you?

Heck just contact Joe and explain what you want. I'm sure he can work
something out for you.

I probably shouldn't mention this since the group is SWL centric, but I have
some 1/8th oz Stanley spinner baits with a ball bearing swivel attaching the
blade and they swing pretty darn good

The problem with the Stanley blades if you fish them in mucky green water is
the swivel will gum up and stop spinning. I have actually cut them off and
put on SWL blades and kept fishing. LOL. In fact that was probably my first
success with SWL. Putting their blades on Stanley wire bodies.
