All members -
This is the question asked in the IoS Poll of the week today.
Here is the link for you to reply, if apathy is not too rife in this NG

Should Fishing be Banned

Yes and No

It should be an offence to crush to death any marine (or other) creature.

It should be an offence to drown any marine ( or other) creature.

It should be an offence to slit open the belly and remove the entrails of
any marine (or other) creature whilst it is still alive.

It should be an offence to kill and dump hundreds of thousands of tonnes of
imature marine (or other) creatures in the quest for hundreds of thousands
of tonnes of mature marine (or other) creatures.i

These forms of death and waste are inflicted daily upon SEA FISH and all in
the quest for money by the "licenced" commercial fishing fleets of not only
the UK but by those throughout the world!

Yes, commercial fishing by net, trap, vacuum suction, snare, long line and
the like should be banned.

Let the world go back to rod and line fishing only for the next 20 years to
let stocks re-generate and review the situation again then and only then.

If this strategy means that a lot of people will die fromstarvation or
whatever, then they will still die of starvation from the same cause in not
too many years time - just as soon as the worlds stock of fish has been
obliterated by modern high tec fishing fleets.

Sorry, did you mean ANGLING? Why didnt you say so?

Do we do these things and if so do we do them to the same degree of number
and volume.

Wherever we turn there are wallies who need (re-) educating. Perhaps I'm one
of them, but then again I didn't ask the daft question at the top of this
page.

Or are anglers generaly becoming more enlightened and aid conservation by
practicing a Catch and Release regeime. This is without the interferring
Mind Police from Downing Street who know that as soon as they interfere and
talk of banning ANGLING they will all be looking for alternative employment.
How many millions of anglers ans angling dependant buisnesses and employees
do they ant to see all at the same time in Whithall.
By comparison we will make the Countryside Alliance turnout look like a
pimple on a gnasts backside and there wont be too many police about because
they wil all be off fishing for the weekend.

Kind regards and tight lines.
