I use Klipsch Heresy II speakers. a bit heavy, but man, you can not
beat the sound they give off. I'm old, so I have a couple of my
grandsons carry them around for me in the wilderness. 'Course it
****es off all the animals, to say nothing of the flyfishermen. I
haven't seen a deer, bear, moose, fox, or chipmunk in *years*. But
man, can you imagine Brubeck in stereo in the deep woods of Maine?
While your flyfishing?

Interesting Dave,
Heresy's, thought I would never hear that name again.
I have the original Klipsch Heresy's, built in the late 50's I believe, I'll
have to look at the tag on the back of the speakers again.
They're actually serialized and signed by Paul Klipsch . I also still have
the original album of the Brubeck quartet with Paul Desmond's hit song;
"Take Five".5/4 time (1961). That old jazz is good stuff, the early
Miles Davis and Jazz Crusaders.

Since my Jazz days, I've gotten into modern classical, currently the
Russian composers; Sergei Rachmaninoff & Dmitri Shostakovich.
Early this year, I had the privilege of attending a Gary Hoffman solo
Cello performance of the Shostakovich, one of the best I've seen.
However, "Classical music" would probably be an easy target on
the picnic table among fly-fisherman.

The Heresy IIs must weigh about 35 pounds. I can't imagine how to
power them in the wilderness, or how to pack them in. d;o) Your
Heresys are even heavier.

I've been a Brubeck fan since the early 50s. I have just about all of
his albums that he recorded with Paul Desmond, and have managed to
collect them in CD also. I managed to catch a Brubeck concert in San
Fransciso in 1957, one at Newport JF, and another at the DeCordava
Museum in Lincoln, Ma (that one without Desmond).

MJQ, Oscar Peterson, Parker, Davis, Getz, Garner, Ahmad Jamal,
Mulligan, Zoot Sims, The Trane, and others from that same era also
grace my collection. My grandchildren gave me a Serius sat radio for
my RS6 and paid for the first year. It plays lots of the "old school"
masters. Driving it has always been enjoyable, but with Serius jazz
on, it's even better.

I grew up with classical music. I think it only natural that someone
who likes jazz would also like classical (except opera, of course d;o(
). And, Joanne keeps my ship balanced with her country/folk music,
but not in the RS6. d;o)

Wow, an early live Brubeck concert, I would have love to seen that..
I saw them in the early 80's, still pretty darn good. Ah yes, Stan Getz,
Charlie Parker, Joe Sample, Cannonball Adderley.
I didn't get a Sirius, but I did get an ipod shuffle. I sometimes find
it hard to synchronize the 4-count rhythm of casting to the 5/4 beat
of Brubeck.
We'll have to fish together sometime Dave,

They never leave the house.
My original Heresy's weighs close to 50 lbs each, they are heavy.
My dad built his first tube stereo unit back in the 50's, including his
own speakers and cabinets using Electrovoice hardware. I remember
him setting it up and getting excited when he first heard stereo.
Called the family into the living room to hear two different sounds
out of each speaker. Not to many stereo albums to put on the
Gerrard turntable he said.... Mom just rolled her eyes.

My dad was a little crazy back then. I also recall he drove up
one day in a new 1963 red split window Corvette Sting Ray. We all
ran to the porch when he honked the horn. He had this huge smile
on his face. Then my Mom yells out; "TAKE IT BACK!!!!"
First time I seen the smile get wiped off my Dad's face, I'll never
forget that.

Then four years later, Dad takes me down to buy a family
station wagon at the Ford dealer. He sees this white Shelby Cobra
with blue pin stripes just gleaming. He sits inside and says; "Think
Mom will kill us if we came home with a Cobra?"
