Default True Fish Story..Fishing Bet #1

Heading home from work today, I call Dave V, ask him to call in sick so we
can fish a bit. He agrees to a delayed work start time and makes
arrangements to meet me at the lake, but a fishing bet must be made. We
agree and the bet stands, His wife thinks he's in work and mine will soon
think I have to run out on a work related issue. The bet????? First person
to catch a fish 3 lbs or more, the other guy has to call his wife and lether
know he's fishing and not working.

I get home and the wife seems to be "having enough of the kids for the day",
I use my I have to run out for a while, and head to the lake. I meet up
with Dave and off we go. We joked a bit about catching a fish that weighs in
exactly 3lbs, both claiming we would be the one to do it.. A few minutes
later Dave hooks his first fish, but not close to 3 lbs so I'm safe. I get
the next fish, not close to 3 lbs either, Fishing conditions were tough and
the bite was slow. Dave managed another bass on a zara spook of all things,
still safe, not 3 lbs. We start heading back in and get to the shore, I flip
my spinner bait and Dave says pull up let me off, I figure, we're done. Both
of us safe, he flips his worm into some pads right at the launch and sets
the hook, good fish, fat fish. He gets the scale, standing on shore we weigh
the fish 2.14 2.11 2.15 2.12 3.0 3.0 3.1 3.0 3.0 3.0. He says get the phone
out you lost. I argue that we were done with the bet as he told me to let
him off and we were grounded when he caught the fish, fish was weighed on
shore. We spatted a bit but both agreed that it was a bad bet to begin with
and nothing good could come from it.

We also decided that we still had some time left so why not fish just a bit
more. We head into a little cove, I hit a good bass but it popped off and
Dave wound up taking his 4th. This one with a hook in it. He shows me the
hook, it's my hook from earlier last week. It was a wide gap hook with a
stopper that I had ordered from BPS, I had hooked a fish deep and cut the
line due to me forgetting the pliers. I got my hook back and the fish swam
away a lot better than it was. Go Figure... any ideas for bets for us this
year?, We would love to hear them

If you REALLY want high stakes, the loser can't fish for 2 weeks! Or
better yet, he has to ride with the winner. He can't fish, but has to
take pictures and remove hooks from your fish.
