What is going on in the nation and within our role in the world is too important to trivialize as some would do. Focusing on little video snippets and trying to portray an intelligent person as dumb isn't "fun", it's trivializing an opportunity for a legitimate national debate on some issues. Not that the actual candidates won't manage to drop the gravitas levels a few notches before the process is over, but still, I suspect those who would have the race reduced to guilt by association, cherry-picked video clips, or misrepresented sound bits don't really have the nation's best interests at heart....... Um, how about Obama's defense of the "100 years in Iraq" commercials? Even rational Dems were calling it a gross inaccurate characterization of both the full quote and the intent, which is exactly what it was. Thus far, I'd have to give the "high road" nod to McCain (personally - the same cannot be said of several local GOP campaign ads). Lookit you making references to "the high road." Wolfgang the boy is STILL hilarious when he's "serious." |

Same grade point average as Kerry, but I bet both of them know how many states there are. Duuuh! So, well *below* Barack's GPA. You mean to honestly tell me that you don't recognize a simple slip of the tongue when you hear one.....? .... "something-7, uh, and one more to go, not counting Alaska and Hawaii....." You mean to tell me it's not obvious he meant 47 and made a slip.... kinda the way you would if you'd visited 47 states in 15 months, many of them multiple times....??? I can't speak for Dave, but if a campaign that he chose to mount causes him to do all this "slipping," I'd offer that the pressures of the Presidency is gonna do a real number on him, "slip"-wise...IAC, 47 isn't right as to primaries/caucuses anyway, although his "state" math would have made sense at "47." C'mon. There are a lot of honest differences to discuss and even argue and disagree about, but this picky little **** is a waste of everyone's time.... How come it is that when anyone else makes an obvious slip, misspeaks, or simply drops a clanger, it's important, but when Obama does it, even mentioning it is "picky little ****" or "politics as usual" or one of its variants? I gotta tell ya, this is one of the things that's gonna come back to haunt him - his and his supporters' utter hypocrisy with stuff like this. Lookit you, making references to "hypocrisy." Wolfgang the boy just SLAYS me! |

And while I'm not the expert on Harvard's entrance policies and procedures that you are on Yale's, I have some personal knowledge of both. I'd offer that in the 70s and 80s, Obama, being a minority legacy, had a large headstart to a Harvard admission. While Obama likes, even encourages (or at the minimum, doesn't discourage) the whole humble background bit, ala Bill Clinton (and Hillary, depending...), it is, overall, as much bull**** as Clinton's bull****. And as "they don't get bounced," you have no idea of about what you speak. IAC, by all accounts, Bush was an average student, no more, no less, and whatever "help" you believe his family might have been able to provide was never needed. I went one year to the Princeton Country Day School, which was a pretentious wannabe clone of an English public school (back then, anyway). I remember one 8th grade kid who came to school everyday in a 3 piece suit, carrying a brief case, delivered by chauffeured Bentley. And the driver wore one of those funny uniforms too. Sounds like a sit-com... I remember that particular kid was an introverted hard worker. They had a huge stone wall, castle-like mansion out on Stoney Brook, with majestic iron gates and a long, hedge-lined white gravel driveway. Ah, well, then, that explains the relevance... The also had a mile or more of pristine trout habitat at the upper reaches of Stoney Brook. I poached out there even then. So, let's recap - you were offered a chance to attend a good school and make friends with a rich hard-working kid who dressed nicely, and instead, you chose to steal from it and rationalize your failure there... Which made it all a bit deliciously ironic. Ah, so you're still a thief... But there were plenty of ****-off ultra-rich smart-asses there too. It didn't matter. They were rich and they were going to stay that way no matter what. And they knew it. And it appears the reasons behind your attitude are exposed... Michelle Obama grew up on on the south side of Chicago. Emerging from that environment, as she did, was no small achievement. More bull****. Given the number of folks to whom such is attributed, it's a fairly common type of thing. Heck, didn't John Kerry's campaign even try to pull off some form of the "worked his way up...outta the Hamptons" crapola. IAC, the bottom line is that while schools like Harvard and Yale (and really, all schools) generally have an admissions policy, even if unofficial, that favors legacies, they don't pass out degrees for kicks, and those who are graduated weren't just handed one because they are a legacy. And if you think they do, that doesn't say much for the school, and therefore, much about either Obama's degree. HTH, R |
