Default I have a stupid question.

Why is it that most/all pro and semi-pro bass fishermen use bait casting
reels
when in tournaments, or filming their TV shows. Is there some advantage to
the way a bait casting reel casts or retrieves.
tnx.

One thing I like about bait casting reels is that they are "direct drive".
i.e. the line winds directly onto the spool, whereas with spinning or
spincasting (really just a spinning reel with a cover), the line goes around
a spindle first, causing a slight loss of feel and power. Next, you don't
have to open that bail to cast. Next, I think it's kind of like driving in
a lower, more powerful gear. You don't get as much line in per rotation,
but you get better performance (at least it that's the way it "feels").
Finally, you have your hand all the way around the rod, reel and line (at
least your thumb touches the line on the spool) giving you better feel for
what the bait and/or fish is feeding back to you.
