I have a 21' Center Console Cobia that I use for fishing northern NH &
Maine Lakes. It has a 2 stroke 150hp Yamaha outboard and a 15 hp 4
stroke Suzuki which is used for trolling. Currently, there is a valve
which is turned to supply either engine with gas.

I would like to replace the valve with 2 one-way valves ()to each
engine) and a Y adaptor (to the fuel tank) to avoide having to use the
valve. Does anyone know of such a thing? Thanks.
Do you mean a check valve - like this?

Kinda hard to tell from his description, but it sounds like he wants a
single line from the tank, splitting to 2 different motors, with a
check valve in each line, instead of a "selector" valve being used as
a splitter??

Exactly! The bigger motor does not use a bulb for priming; the smaller
one does. The bigger motor raises and lowers hydraulically, the smaller
one does not, but I will see if I can build something as it is a real
nuisance (and a bit dangerous) to raise and lower the motor while out on
the lake.

Just google "fuel line splitter" and "fuel line check valve" and you
will find "T"s and "Y"s and inline fuel filter/check valve combos.
Just split the main fuel line, add the necessary lengths of hose with
the filter/valves between the ends. You should be able to do the
entire thing for less than $25

Thank you, that was it. I had tried using Google on many combos, but I
never tried those and that was the secret.

Yes, except that that the fuel line is, I believe, 3/8" not 5/16.
Seems quite expensive. Similar (I think) brass valves are available
from McMaster Carr for a lot less. I would use two of them, a
manifold, and a package of adaptors, (barb one end, NPT the other).

Like this?

I think so - I just don't know where that goes. IAC, I am thinking of
two one-way valves (going to each motor) attached to a manifold which
also goes to the fuel tank. The whole thing is available from
McMaster Carr for a reasonable price.

Thing is, I can't be the first guy to add a trolling motor attached to
the main fuel tank. I thought there must be a pre-made assembly -
maybe not...

I have seen dozens on bass and walleye boats but they all use the valve
you are trying to avoid.

Got a link to the one from McMaster Carr? I have some friends that
might want to lose their valves, too.

I just wonder how much restriction there is from these check valves.

The post above from nails it, but the link to McMaster
Carr is
http://www.mcmaster.com. If there is any restriction from the
valves I will add a fuel pump, but I doubt it will be necessary. The
fuel line is 3/8" already and even the big engine sips gas. IAC, I'm
reviewing the stuff now and plan to do this - I can always revert to the
switched valve if I have to. If you like, email me in a week or two and
I'll tell you how I made out.

Larry,
Instead of emailing, how about posting your results here? That way,
I'll be sure to catch it when I return from a 3-week fishing vacation
in Michigan (I leave Saturday night!!)
