Thanks to everyone (well, nearly everyone) for the input. It's between
the Sage Xi3 and the Sage Z-Axis. I'll try them head-to-head.

BTW, as to what the 10wt is for, on my upcoming trip to Andros it will
be for throwing lage flies to barracuda. Next time I go to the
Seychelles it will be for milkfish. One of these days I'd like to try
some offshore fishing for albies, dorado, etc., and I'd really like to
catch some large roosterfish.

Sounds wonderful. Good luck. Wish I could enjoy some salt.....maybe
next year.

I think your choice just got easier sine I don't think the Z-axis
comes in a 10, but I wish it did. A ten is typically considered a
Permit rod.

I think you're right (just looked at Sage's web site), but I'm 99.99%
sure that they USED to offer the z-axis in a 10wt, and quite recently.

Maybe it's discontinued. Maybe I can get a deal on one. :-)

Good luck with that.

Flats fishing can be a lot less physically demanding than cold-water
wade fishing. First of all, you're warm (usually). The wading usually
isn't difficult, and if necessary you can arrange to fish from the
boat. (Best to find a willing partner or pay for a guide for yourself
-- most bonefishermen prefer wading, I think.)

One of my Seychelles guides told me about a paraplegic Frenchman who
had a great time -- caught lots of bones. I fished with a guy for a
week at Alphonse Is. who was about 82 years old and not very steady on
his feet. He took a couple of spills, but generally did just fine.
(BTW, he's fished everywhere I've ever heard of, and then some.)

I've got an old Fenwick 10wt glass rod that was my father-in-laws

I'll never use it .... free to good home if you want it, rw .....
guaranteed to make all that casting and landing stuff much more
challenging than modern gear !!

wonder how many never used rods there are in the world?
