Default crankbaits

anyone here use crankbaits in the prespawn on natural lakes? the water
here in michigan is mostly clear in the early spring, what would be some
good colors and how do you fish them?

Bluegill or sunfish patterns. Crank them down over a bed and pause. Or
crank it down and then let it dig its way across the bed. Actually I would
be more inclined to use a swim bait for this, but a crank bait that
suspends would work really well too.

Big fish,

Pre-spawn, you really cannot go wrong with crayfish patterns. As the
spawn progresses I would start throwing bluegill patterns, and then as
the summer approaches shad, bluegill. Then Shad, bluegill, and crayfish
through the fall. I know I have had really good success in the
pre-spawn with crayfish patterns, and the smallies wouldn't touch
anything else.

Just my experience,

Chris
