Surfcasting aroubd Cabo is brilliant, and you'll have the beaches to yourself because everyone else is out boatfishing.. Word of caution though, The swells are huge. On no account try wading -people have drowned just walking along the beach. Best thing to do is find a spot where there's an outcrop of rock that gives more sheltered water. You can spin but you need a really heavy spoon - like a Crocodile - to (a) get out far enough and (b) to 'grip" the water.Big Spanish mackerel are likely and, if you're lucky, roosterfish. Surfcasting with bait - use mackerel or mullet chunk and, once again, find a spot where the rocks breeak the swell down a bit. Given that, you can use regular UK surfcasting gear with 4- 5 oz grip pleads. With average luck you'll catch anything from (small) hammerhead sharks to pargo (bream) which are great eating. Rays, especially stingrays, can be a nuisance though But watch those swells !!
