Reel seats and cork handles
 
Since you build rods, couldn't you make a lighter, better setup with a Fiji
SKM skeleton front and and the threaded part of a IPS/HPS combo? Would save
a 1/4 oz or better in weight just at the reel seat. That is if you don't
mind a split grip setup.

I'm not a fan of the split grip I think I will be using the Fuji ECSM
exposed blank seat. It's just the fact that I'm use to these Berkley rods
(used them for years) and I would like to build some new ones with state of
the art blanks and guides

I have made 10 rods with the St. Croix Legend Elite blanks and they are
outstanding "Ask Jerry" I made a few for him
