Default Reel seats and cork handles

I build my own rods and have been trying to find the manufacturer of the
real seats and handles that where used on the Berkley "The Pulse" trigger
flipping rods. Now I called Berkley (what a joke) they told me the their
rods are
made in Taiwan and they just tell them what they want and don't know who
they
buy the parts from....hmmmmmmmm

I'm pretty sure I can make the cork handle but I cant find the reel seats.
If any one knows how to find these please let me know. Here's a picture of
the seat www.oaklandbassmasters.com/images/seat.htm

Can't help you with the seat Roy... but that's an interesting seat! How is
the reel held on? There doesn't appear to be a screw down.

Notice the ring at the back of the seat (gold bans on it) You spin it and a
foot lock slides out over the reel foot. It is a very unique seat and is
ergonomically designed for you hand. Also the cork handle is just as unique
made of individual cork rings. this is one of the best reel seats I have
ever seen and would love to put them on some new blanks!

There are three major manufactures of reel seats fuji pacific bay and
american tackle. Fuji used to make an offset seat. If I were
building the rod to sell I would use nothing but fuji componets beause
they are the best in my opinion.

All the rods I build have Fuji seats and guides but this seat is for me and
fuji doesn't make it.
The question is who does?

Hi Roy,

I went to my usual sources for components and couldn't find that reel seat.
So then I did a google search and still couldn't find it.

I would suggest that you log onto http://www.rodguild.com/ and ask there.
If you do get an answer, let me know because I'm curious about it as well
now.

ALL cork handles are made of individual rings. Some are just more obvious
than others. The VERY good handles appear to be seamless, but still are
cork rings glued together.

Well, let's say, I've never seen a cork handle done any other way. If there
is, I'd like to see it.

Thanks Steve I sent them an email a few days ago along with a few other web
sites for rod building and they all said that Berkley would be the only one
that would have the answer. One guy said that the seat would have been made
just for that rod and would most likely been made in a quantity and size
just for that rod. Witch means that there isn't any left to buy and if there
was I would have to find a blank the exact size to fit the handle. So it
seems I'm out of luck on this one.

Steve, I've seen some cheap rods with "cork" handles that look like the
whole thing is pressed from cork dust ... (one piece, no rings). I doubt
it is as sensitive as real cork rings though.

Lots of cork tape handle rods. Not rings but a long strip of cork that is
spiral wrapped on the handle. My sal****er iron chucking stick is this way.
No rings on mine as I use a reel clamp.
