While at Bassmaster University recently I watched Denny Brauer put on an
interesting display. He made 50' pitched with his TD-X baitcaster & NEVER put his thumb on the spool. No trace of a birdsnest whatsoever. It goes to show that with today's reels if they are adjusted properly a backlash should be a rare occurance. Heck, I sure was impressed. Warren "RichZ" wrote in message ... Exactly the opposite. The spool is spinning SLOWER with the lighter line, which results in less braking force from the centrifugal brakes, and thus more need for an educated thumb. |
