For those attending Penns and driving in from the south, I just found
out from my PSU grad officemate that PSU is having commencement on the
14th and 15th. Traffic on 322 is gonna suck big time. I got caught in
that a couple of years ago and it added two and a half hours onto my
trip. Also, 83 is shredded at York. Is there an alternate that
wouldn't suck so bad? I.e. 15 to 80 and across?

And I'll ask the question from the other direction- for those of us arriving
from I-80 eastbound, does it make sense to go past the State College exits
and use the Lamar route instead of trying to get through/around PSU?

Coming from the east the way i go is 81 to 80 and get off at the Jersey Shores
exit.... left onto rte 880 follow 880 until you get to Rebersburg take a right
onto 192 follow until you get to 445 or Millhiem Narrows Rd
take a left that will bring you right into beautiful downtown Millhiem go
straight across at the only traffic light follow untill you get to Coburn go
through Coburn bear right passed The Feathered Hook about 2 miles on Penns
Creek road take a left Millhiem/Sangerville highway a mile up and Hemlock Acres
is on the left........

From the west take 80 to Lamar exit....Right on rte 64 follow untill you get to
445 left onto 445 follow over mtns a few switchbacks keep it under a 100mph
bear left on 192 then right onto 445 or Millhiem Narrows Rd follow directions
above to Coburn......

For those going to the Cherry Run cabin when you get to the traffic light in
Millhiem take a left onto rte 45 follow untill you get to Woodward take a right
onto Woodward Gap Rd its right beside a church and is a dirt road follow untill
you get to either Poe Mtn Rd or Rupp Hollow rd a right and then a left onto
Cherry run rd follow to the end take a right and look for Uncle face print on
the cabin which will be on the left side of the road

Thank you Handyman!

I may stop along Fishing Creek since it is right there at the Lamar exit,
which will put me into Hemlock Acres on Saturday evening.

Is there a plan (as if!) for Saturday dinner?

Bill

Frank,
Take 15 to 45....and hope Bucknell is not graduating that Saturday, as
well....still have to deal with I 81/I 83 area, plus a little while on 322.

Try 15 to Carlisle then 74 to 75 over to 322. I've been this way a
couple of times and found very little traffic and nice ride (make sure
you have plenty of gas when you leave Carlisle). You can even detour
over by Yellow Breeches if you like.

Let me second that. I drive that now and then, in ;preference to 322,
and always enjoy the ride and have no delays except during school bus
season.

There are several hairpin curves going over the two mountain ridges,
so when you see a sign saying "10 mph," believe it.

Coming from the East or South through Harrisburg you can Take 11/15, to 104,
to 45. Fastest way to Cherry Run from Harrisburg, and Philadelphia, done it
hundreds of times. This will also take you right through the town of Penn's
Creek which is close to the where the but Sunday Bass Bash is occurring.
11/15 to 45 as Tom indicated is a close second but you don't have to worry
about Bucknell, or Penn State graduation traffic from the east doing this
route.

Thanks Mike. I think I'll try that. By the way, got a new truck
(bought it Thursday), that will allow me to haul a bunch of fishermen.
Dodge 1500 Quad cab with a full size bed (I can lay a 4X8 sheet of
plywood flat in the bed or stack fishermen in there like cordwood).
Rides much better than that little friggen Ranger.

Just talked to Frank on his cell to tell him about the demise of our
local flyshop (see the other post) and he's sitting in stopped traffic
on the Harrisburg beltway ogling a girl in a Corvette (the car not a
small heavily armed frigate) . Looks like I am going to make it up for
a couple days anyway starting Sunday evening.
