Lead Casting Question

I have found that when adding recycled (scrap) lead to my melting pot that a
higher temp is needed to keep it melted. Also the top third of the melted metal
is 'slushy'.

Is there a way to add good lead and mix the two back to a workable metal? Is
there an additive that can be used for the same (tin, bismuth, flux???)

Lead Casting Question

I have used wheel weights for casting in the past, and I just got it really
hot (in well ventilated area) and skimmed off the garbage on the surface.
