Just posting what I have experienced. The stuff works for me. Just for
kicks, do any of you store your rods and reels anywhere near a window in the
house or garage? From my experience, sunlight is the most detrimental to
mono or flouro. Used to store my rods in a rack I made in my bedroom.
Morning sunlight would come thru that window for about 2 hours everyday. If
I used any of those rods without stripping off 20-25' of line, I could
guaratee I would lose a lure within the first few casts. Sometimes the rods
would be exposed like that for only 3-4 days, sometimes 2 weeks. Didn't
matter. Sunlight will make it week/brittle or whatever ya want to call it.
All my soft plastics reels have Vanish Transition, all others have either
Trilene or Stren 14-20#. I use 14# Vanish on my small plastics and 17 on all
others. I have absolutely NO experience with pound tests less than these.
Maybe that is where you northern boys have bad experiences with the stuff. I
only get to watch shows of y'alls waters and I know a lot of em use 10# or
less. Sure would like to fish some of y'alls smallie waters. Maybe someday.

to save some $$, and I have to say it is absolute garbage. I contacted
Berkley, and even they admitted that they had to improve the strength.
I know what you are saying about breaking at the knot, that does happen
if it is not cinched down correctly, but most of my Vanish breaks were
in the middle of the line. I cannot say I have reproduced the results
with the brands I mentioned earlier.
