Must be a European problem. All my fly rods match up just fine
with the flylines of the same weight.

Note to newbies: I would take Mr. Connor's "articles" with a
large measure of salt, anybody who tells you to cast a 6wt or
heavier line on your 3wt has got a screw loose.
