I should also mention that I fish in the winter,
just as soon as the ice melts off the rocks
and I am not a risk of killing myself. No
hatch at all in the winter. You must fish
the drift: mainly Stones.

Wrong again: Baetis and midge hatch in the winter. Ive fished hatches
in a snow storm on the upper Yakima near Cle Elm.

Fascinating. On my stream, I see zero airborne anything
when it is freezing outside. An examination of "contents"
shows tons of black sticks (midge larvae). Thank you!
