Good news: On the sidewalk at work this morning, I saw a Anthopotamus
myops. *Essentially, the midwest version of the golden drake. *There
also was a rust colored sulphur. *Hmm, time for fly rod. *Creek is 200
yards from my office.
Bad news: Heat index is currently 116. *Think I'll stay in the AC.

Papillion.

When I was a kid in Omaha, Papillion (and we called it pa-pill-yun ,
or pappio) was a dirty, smelly ditch that ran through the southwest
corner of town (Omaha ending at 72nd and Dodge -- farmland west).

In the late 90's, my brother, terminally ill, took up fishing and
showed me a small lake made by damming the creek. I forget the name,
but it is near the Sapp Brothers place out west Center. A lovely,
serene, clean place. He was hooked on crappie fishing, and we had
some very nice times there before his death in '01.

My memory is no longer simply of a dirty ditch.

Thanx for reminding me.

cheers, and a couple fingers of Caol Ila
