Frank Reid When I was a kid in Omaha, Papillion (and we called it pa-pill-yun , or pappio) was a dirty, smelly ditch that ran through the southwest corner of town (Omaha ending at 72nd and Dodge -- farmland west). In the late 90's, my brother, terminally ill, took up fishing and showed me a small lake made by damming the creek. I forget the name, but it is near the Sapp Brothers place out west Center. A lovely, serene, clean place. He was hooked on crappie fishing, and we had some very nice times there before his death in '01. My memory is no longer simply of a dirty ditch. Thanx for reminding me. cheers, and a couple fingers of Caol Ila oz |
