Hello Everyone,

I am new to this Newsgroup as well as using Newsgroups to post questions.
I've been following the posts on this group with great interest and there
appears to be a substantial knowledge base among y'all.

I've been out of bass fishing for several years and have lost contact with
the technology and equipment but I would like to buy a set up for light
crankbaits, light spinner baits, and light top water.

I'm leaning towards a Bass Pro Shops Extreme Baitcast Reel (6.3:1 retrieve)
with a Bass Pro Shops 'Crankin' Stick Trigger Rod (6' M). My budget is very
limited and this seems to be a good choice.

I would appreciate any comments (positive or negative) about this set up. I
am not familiar with BPS reels or rods and would appreciate any insight on
durability. I have Lew's and Daiwa bait casting, so I am used to used to
using bait casters.

Thanks in advance.

I have a BPS extreme baitcaster in my arsenal and it's a good reel for
the money. Personally I prefer a mh rod but I fish in a lot of "slop"

Hi Mike in GA and the group. I would question the use of a cranking
stick for top water. I was in BPS a while back and checked out the
crankin sticks and found them way to slow for my tastes. I like a very
light and responsive rod for top water. I have some of the BPS Extreme
rods and really like them. I find they seem to do ok with crack baits
and are much better for everything else.

Hope this helps, Dale
