Verizon is dumping Usenet at the end of this month. Last time I tried to
renew with news.individual.de, they asked for more information than I
wanted to give them.

Other alternatives?

I have a teranews that charges a one time fee of $3.95.
Has worked great for years!

When ameritech dropped Usenet I started using eternal-september.org

It's free, it's a real nntp feed (not a web page) and it works well
enough for me and did I mention it's free ?

I sometimes get a "Too many connections" error message during
European prime time (eternal-september is based in Germany) but
there are times when being unable to read or write to roff is a
feature not a bug. ;-)

Google is a bit of a pain in the ass, but it's still free.

that's what I'm using, Rdean turned me on to it....seems to work pretty good
for me...I use outlook express because I am accustomed to it and set up was
a breeze...

Glad to hear it. For those that care, "eternal-september" is the "new"
Motzarella.org...fortunately or unfortunately for USENET, I don't think the name
change was warranted...
