Today, on ESPN Classic, they broadcast a 1974 documentary titled, "Ted
Williams And The Atlantic Salmon". The documentary showed him tying a fly called "The Conrad". What is that fly made from, and what type of fly is Mr. Williams trying to simulate? |

According to Bate's "Fishing Atlantic Salmon" on page 367 they say:
.. . .an enterpising individual by the name of Charles Cuck Conrad . . embellished the Black Bear fly with a tinsel tag and green fluorescent butt creating waht is known as the CONRAD, or Black Bear Green Butt. The picture shown in Plate 133 shows a BBGB with hackle fibres for the tail and and a black wound hacke. Hope this helps Dave On Tue, 5 Apr 2005 17:52:46 -0400, (Lawrence Ressler) wrote: Today, on ESPN Classic, they broadcast a 1974 documentary titled, "Ted Williams And The Atlantic Salmon".
