LOL, I don't know where to start! First of all, the guys at Fast Cat Marine
really know their stuff. With a SERIOUS history of offshore powerboat
racing, they know boats, how to build them for speed, efficiency and
durability, and they will NOT send a boat out the door unless it's to their
specifications and standards, which means I'm getting one helluva boat! Oh
yeah, they're a lot of fun to hang out with too! :-)

I got a chance to see my boat as it was being worked on in the glass shop.
Even though it's a foot and a half shorter than my Cobra, it seems MUCH
larger, mostly I think because it carries a 102 inch beam almost all the way
to the bow! To say it's roomy is an understatement....

I got a chance to be in one on Friday, we went to the Everglades and did
some bass fishing. The boat is fast without a doubt, faster than the Cobra.
While we didn't get a chance to run in rough water, we did run some boat
wakes and I was impressed with how smoothly and easily it stepped over the
wakes. I was impressed too at how the boat fished. With gunnels that are
almost 18" wide, it was easy to walk around in the boat. The thing is so
stable that even with four adults fishing off the same side of the boat, it
didn't list hardly at all! When other boats ran past in the narrow canals,
the wakes barely bobbled the boat.

One thing I was concerned about was storage. My Cobra had so much that it
spoiled me. This boat has even more! I'm sure I'll manage to fill the
storage compartments, but I'm going to have to work at it. When the rear
compartment swallowed up a 30 quart cooler, I knew I had enough room to put
things. The hard part is going to be remembering where I put stuff!

They tell me that there's about another two weeks of hand work that has to
be done in the glass shop, then it's off to the rigging shop. So I'm
guessing that in about a month I'll have to make the long haul down to Miami
in the truck to go bring my baby home.

I might have screwed up in the power department. I ordered the boat with a
Mercury 250 XS outboard. However, I rode in one Fast Cat that makes me
think my boat will be underpowered! You see, this boat had twin Merc 300X
outboards on it and I got a chance to go for a "ride". To say the
accelleration was strong is definitely the understatement of the year. From
idle to on plane in about 10 feet, from 60 mph to 95 mph in a blink of an
eye! We topped out at 104.3 gps speed and it was an amazingly smooth and
controlled ride. No chine walking, no wiggles, just lots of giggles... :-)

I feel like a 6 year old on the first of December.....
