Default Weedless frogs

Hello folks,

Started fishing rubber frogs this year. I have a small variety of snag-proof
tournament frogs. I guess I'm just wondering what brand, type, color and
retrieves you use for these tasty morsels?

Also what rig do you use?

I have been using the natural green color, but the skirts are more green
chartruese and I find bass swirl them on bright days. I have changed to the
black with yellow on these days but I guess I have a confidence issue with
that color.

So I picked up some original with the frog leg design in green 1/2 oz. and 3
black 1/4 oz versions. I'm missing plenty of hookups on this model(about
7:1). Are there any modifications you make to increase hook up ratio?

I am using 30# superbraid on a 7.5' med heavy rod (More on the heavy side)
Shimano Castaic reel (also my flipping setup)

for the 1/4 oz I have a med heavy spinning setup with 30# superbraid.(I just
got these today and I will report tomorrows findings if they are hitting
them)

My prefered frog is theScumfrog with the tournement frog my second
choice. At times color does not matter, but there seems to be some
lakes where they do have a preference on a routine basis. I use 6-30
Spiderwire exclusively with a 6-6 med-hvy rod, & BPS Extreme reel. Just
got back from Lake X in Canada & caught 11 LMB over 3&1/2 on this
set-up. What a blast!!!

Nice!

Went out to a local lake this morning. Bite was off but turned on around
9AM. Had a nice blowup on a tournament frog and a solid hookset. In fact so
solid thatthe real came right out of it's seat. Ugh...

What color do you use where they have a preference?

What colors do you also use regularly?

Thanks.

I have also started useing plastic frog this year. There are 2 basic
styles I use, those that have "curly-tail" legs and those that have
"paddle-tail" legs. Specific models I like are the Yum Buzzfrog and
the Mann's hardnose. I rig them tex-posed on a 4/0 EWG Gamakatsu hook.
Colors I use are strictly natural frog colors: brown or green on the
back, white or yellow on the belly. I have best success with this lure
on lakes with alot of cover on the banks - trees, brush, etc.
One trick I've been useing with pretty good results, is to weight
the plastic frog with a bullet sinker like a true texas rig, and flip
or pitch it to spots where tree branches or brush overhang the bank,
especially if the water gets deep near by.

Try the Zoom Horney toads.

The buzzfrogs get better action if you trin the legs down. They are too
thick stock.

This is more of a hollow plastic frog post like the snag proof and scum
frogs
