Have you tried noise reduction on the D100? I haven't had any
exposures long enough yet, but plan to soon. I've heard it works
pretty well.

Thanks for the post. I live in the opposite corner of the state (Walla
Walla) and have yet to catch a metalhead w/ my flyrod. I gave it a
somewhat sincere effort this year on the Tucannon River, and a couple
tries on the Walla Walla. But it was the usual balance of water
levels, clarity, fish movement, etc. We had a lot of rain and snow
this year, and some perpetual clarity problems on the Walla Walla. And
the Touc is a heck of a small stream, so it's been a fun challenge in
terms of presentation, small but fast water, brush on the banks, etc.
Anyway, it's some pretty different water than the Hoh. Some day I
dream of getting up to the peninsula and giving it a shot. It probably
won't be this winter (or spring now), but perhaps next year.

I drove over Monday morning and fished the afternoon and Tuesday. The
water was low and gin clear. Monday I walked in to a couple of my
favorite spots in the park, and found nothing in the usual places. One
run has a narrow deep section at the head where the main current is in

push it 3 stops with PhotoShop, but they look OK. Sunrise was nice,
but with no clouds it was fairly simple. Fishing Tuesday was a bust.
I tried all the spots I knew, concentrating on the deeper and more
protected ones, and didn't find a fish. One hell of a nice day though.

Laziness prevails.

In your neighborhood there's no excuse for not catching steelhead,
unless you just don't get out often enough. Don't forget, "Work is
overrated". The Snake downstream from the Grande Ronde, and the Grande
Ronde are usually stuffed with fish in the fall, and they're not so far
for you to drive.

Don't think my skills go to true comparison but I want to have a go, it says
trout to me after looking at hundreds of photos looking for the right one to
do.
