Good stuff, I've used it on and off for a while. Introduces you to
stuff you might like based on similarities to what you specify and
continually tailors itself based on whether you approve or decline its
suggestions. It can be frustrating if it starts to drift but the
selection of music is pretty impressive.

Yeah, on some artists it can drift pretty badly. My Little Feat station
stays right on track most of the time.

Another fun one is Wolfgang's Vault if you like live stuff.

Great background music for whatever you are doing. You name the
artists and the station takes care of the rest. I've heard a Brubeck
album that I didn't know existed.

Sounds pretty great. Alas, my PC has decided it doesn't want to give
me audio output anymore. Can't figure out why. I've done all the
obvious stuff right up to re-installing the sound card drivers.

Did you reinstall over the top, or remove the card (not physically, just
in DM), the drivers, etc., reboot, and then reinstall? Another thing -
did this happen at an SP2 "upgrade?" If so, and if you haven't done so,
you might check to see if there are later drivers.

Nothing.

If anybody wants to solve this one for me, here's what I know. I have
no audio to the speakers and no audio to the headphone jack. Nothing
is muted in the volume control. There are no error states shown in
the Device Manager.

I do know that it will record and process audio using Audacity and
Vegas Movie Studio, because I can transfer the files to other PCs and
play them fine there.

I suspect I'm headed for a new audio card, but I haven't gotten around
to that yet.

Yes, I did remove it via device manager & let it re-detect & re-
install it on reboot. The system thinks it's there, but no audio.
I'm not actually sure what event prompted it; but I don't believe is
was a Windows update. God knows what the kids may have installed.

Interesting, I've heard of the Ahmad Jamal Trio and Misty, but didn't

There isn't a tie between Jamal and Brubeck. I entered Brubeck as my
favorite, and it then selects other things besides Brubeck, including
Jamal, Oscar Peterson, Mulligan, Miles Davis, etc. It did wander off
a time or two and I had to manually correct it, but it is a pretty
neat station, especially the new Brubeck album.

My first Jamal album was bought in Japan in 1958.

If I understood what you were saying, you get nothing out of the
speakers on this computer, right? Um, I know this is simplistic, but
are you sure everything is working and connected? Have you checked the
speakers themselves, the cable(s), power supply, etc.?

Also, have you tried manually bypassing any "enhanced" (Creative Labs'?)
audio manager and simply tried the basic sound drivers and manager?

Go to Control Panel and then 'sound'. Pick an event that has a sound
associated with it (like 'windows start'). If the '' or speaker next
to the sound name is black, that means your driver is installed
correctly. If it is grey, that means it is not installed correctly.
If it is black and you click on the , the sound should play. If you
can't hear it you either have the 'mute' on in the volume control box,
or your speakers are plugged into the wrong hole in your sound card.
Or you have set up your sound system to use a different output socket
on the card.

This may help you;

http://support.gateway.com/s/tutoria...07&series=1082

Often these problems are caused by a program that reconfigures the
sound card. This either re-routes the audio signal, or turns it off.

Before or after April 15th? Just want to know if the album is older
than I am. :-)

Yep. I'm also getting nothing out of the headphone jack, and that's hard
wired.
