Default 1st trip uphill

After a couple of evening of casting practice on local golf course pond i
decided it was time for my first spring trip to N.C. mountains this weekend.
Spring was busting out all over.
Tried Curtis creek ( just east of Ashville ) on Friday.( a delayed harvest
stream- n.c. for heavy stocked -all c&r)
20 feet wide -lots of pools-started with an big yellow stimulator but
fishing improved when i switched to smaller 16 adams. water really clear so
i switched to longer leader ( need more casting practice-hard to extend
leader with only four foot of line used}--caught lots of 8inch rainbow
stockers--nympthed my way back downstream and dug out two nice browns.
Saturday pm i wet waded upper creek above morganton--[old opie hangout] low
water ? and very clear--not a skunk job but did not need both hands to keep
fish count---[counting on presentation lesson from mike and tom at Penn's ]
lots of small blue butterfly's [for jeff]
Sat evening joined Walt, tom brown and tim from Oregon for steaks and drinks
at Optimist campground- tom and tim do secret stuff for govt. so di
close just enough for me to realize they are very BRIGHT fellows. Tim showed
films of glider he is designing to fly around mars and take pictures--the
land based rover only covered 30 yards!
Few fish, few drinks, few friends,-fine weekend
Joe

Nice report Joe, sounds like a good time. Wasn't Tom's friend Tim at
one of the NC claves or get togethers? He sounds familiar.
