Default CACA - October in the NC Smokies

Anytime between Oct 9-23... mainly between 9-16. we'll be fishing the
streams in the GSMNP as well as those in swain and graham county. brook
trout, brown trout, rainbow trout. some easily accessible spots, some
not so easy. also, lakes - fontana, nantahala, santeetlah,
cheoh/calderwood. beautiful mountains...

so far, other than me, sadie, and rachel, the folks who have indicated
they plan on showing up for a visit are (as best i recollect)...

wayno
pj (and perhaps jennie)
wolfgang and becky
snakefiddler (and fiddle, mandolin, banjo, piano...)
bob patton ?
dan'l (and cindy... and danl's brother?)?
indian joe
big dale
waldo
zimbo?

if you're a musician, bring your instruments. if you can sing, tune
your voice. cat'rwailers like me are welcome too. if you've got a boat,
bring it. the lakes have a lot of national forest along the shorelines
and are pretty places to canoe and kayak. october is one of the best
times to fish and visit in the smokies.

if anyone needs help locating accommodations or has questions, let me know.

jeff

I'll be there, good lord willing and the creek don't rise.
By the way, did anybody see the article about the Nanty in the current issue
of "Trout"?

Where will the "Non-Clave" unofficial Campgrounds be located? Sign me up for
camping out sometime in the main time frame. I have a clone of Warren's Taj
Mahal. I'm looking for some one local to join me. So, there should also be a
second person. Is it worth bringing the Kayak?

lou - the camping areas in graham and swain county are spread out.
rachel and i are staying in our usual rental on big snowbird. a lot
depends on where other folks choose to stay, as there isn't really a
center for anything (as you know, we're a bit off-center, in my case,
left of center). we'll do a meal or something at my place during the
week. it's on the south side of robbinsville, about 15 minutes from
town. west of town are camping areas at the western edge of santeetlah
lake, that have facilities and are managed. those campgrounds are near
santeetlah creek, one of the streams we'll fish. there are campsites on
santeetlah creek too. they are about 20 minutes from big snowbird. the
big snowbird creek backcountry area has excellent campsites, but no
facilities (no toilets or showers). here are some links to review...

bring your kayak... the lakes will be fun, and, if you're adventurous,
you can kayak the nantahala.
