Default Carolina Anti-Clave Accretion - October 9-23

Rachel, Sadie and I will be depositing ourselves in Graham County
October 9-23 for CACA 2004. The anti-clave - being a formless, fluid
thing, without any purpose except as revealed moment to moment (and, in
an effort to allow folks a longer period to attend or not attend, or to
avoid others, or to join others)- shall persist for the 2 weeks of my
temporary residence. Since October is a fine time to be in the far
western nc mountains, and because lodging is sparse in Graham County, i
recommend making reservations early. Here are some web pages to study...

For those wanting a rustic cabin experience, check out the Swan Cabin.
It sits above Santeetlah Creek and at $25 a night, holding up to 10, it
might be hard to beat for you outdoorsy types. reservations are tough
for it. There are many camping spots on streams. I have some property
that is not on a stream but is centrally located about 5 minutes north
of Robbinsville on England Branch, about halfway between snowbird,
santeetlah, and the SMNP's streams. if someone wants to pitch a tent
there, you're welcome to do so... but with all the free and rental
streamside campsites, i can't imagine why you'd choose it.

if anyone needs more info, feel free to contact me by e-mail. those
requiring a literate and experienced circus ringmaster are urged to
contact wayno...

happy to help in any way, jeffie. an introductory overview follows:

i think the choice of location depends on the degree of "rustic" one is
willing to undergo. you could range from portable single tenting, sleeping
by any given stream for any length of time, moving from stream to stream as
you see fit, to taking up digs in the brand new mini-suites "high rise" in
beautiful downtown robbinsville (if you want to concentrate on the
santeetlah fishery), to the neat duplex cabins at almond boat dock on the
shoreline at the eastern end of fontana lake, where you are minutes from the
nantahala and the only source of alchohol within miles, bryson city. the
other streams flowing into fontana, out of the park itself (hazel, eagle,
forney, and chambers creeks) are more readily accessed from there, as well.

the weather during the indicated time frame can really be unpredictable;
but, you can be sure that the closer you come to the end of october, the
colder the nights will be. i plan on getting my shots in early, from the
9th to the 13th, for instance.

it is a gorgeous place, the old north state in october. the rancor level
should be at its nadir; or so one hopes.

yfitons
wayno (email or post for further details. we here at "little wayno's trout
shop and high country outfitters" exist only to serve--after all, remember
our motto: we never close!)

ps: unlike those louts at wilson creek outfitters, who wallow around
besotted and sullen, thinking only of themselves and their considerable
appetites...

perchance wayno the insomniac, you've heard of our motto.... "we
catch fish" ;-)

i like the 9-13th..... is anyone interested in staying at the
almond boat dock cabins? they are about an hour from snowbird but
offer lake fishing and short drives to nolan/deep creek areas.

Does anyone know if those cabins are under the same management as the
last time we stayed there ? Those folks were, uhh..., how shall I say,
strange, strange to the point of the theme from Twilight Zone. They
made me take all my beer bottles to the dumpster myself because the
maids were afraid of the devil. I sweartagawd, you cannot make this
**** up.

I'm thinkin' somewhere right in Bryson City, close to the police
and the hospital. ;-)

I'd have thought that you'd have felt right at home?

Perhaps, they just felt that they were in the presence of CONCENTRATED EVIL!

You just don't give yourself enough credit.

Well, you certainly have a low opinion of blue collar southerners if
you think poaching, illegally carrying concealed handguns and trashing
our National Forests are blue collar southern values.
