I've got this fleece, and as I've said, I love it. A thermal shirt, a
chamois shirt, this jacket, and a wind shell is enough to bring me down to
a windy 30 degree day on the water.

It's back in Cabela's bargain cave, only in 3XL, if anyones interested

3XL ?!? Damn, gettin' me big enough to fit into a 3XL would be
a tall order even for Anheuser-Busch, and gawd knows they can
brew Budweiser as fast as I can drink it. ;-)

That's because you're a small, small man. ;-)

It happens, and those it happens to can have trouble getting good stuff at
reasonable cost, so I thought I'd pass it along.

That Polartec 300 is good stuff

It's a wonderful size. Other people order the size typical for their
body, but a 3XL will cover your butt when you want to sit down on a
stream side rock. Big bonus. The sleeves hang, of course. And if
you're wading, you might want to belt it up a bit so it won't drag in
the stream.

Think of it as a coat with sleeves a bit too long, rather than as a
jacket that's too big?

Wonderful size?! Hell, my sleeping bag is only an XL.

Um, I haven't seen the item in person, but if it is the size of most 3XL stuff,
it won't cover a butt much further down (around is another matter) than an XL.
I'm 6' 2"-ish and in my younger days, I wore a 58L ("L" for "Long") jacket,
18-20x36 shirt, and a 34-36x34 pant, and I still would not have ordered anything
in 3XL, but in many such items, I did and do often need (XL or 2XL) _T_ - "T"
for "Tall", which, obviously, IS longer.

I'm 5' 3" or 5' 4", so it covers me. I'll agree the T makes a
difference. Right now I'm wearing an XL 2T thermo tee-shirt from the
Big and Tall Men's Casual shop as a dress. Comes to just below my
knees when I stand up. Great for casual around the house wear.

At 5'4", I'd suspect you could get a couple of broomsticks and use a 3XL coat as
a pup tent. My SO is 5'10" and if she puts on my XLT stuff, she looks like a
child in her father's coat. That said, if you like the "short dress" effect of
men's Tall stuff, you might also look at men's nightshirts - my SO has
"borrowed" the couple I _had_, and has gotten a couple of her own, giving her a
variety of weights/materials. She really likes them, but as always with such,
YMMV. At your height, I would guess that a "regular" size would be plenty, thus
making them a little easier to find, but ???

Somehow, I wound up getting the catalogs from "Sportsman's Guide"
(
www.sportsmansguide.com), and while a good bit of their stuff seems, well, just
poor value - junk, useless, and/or overpriced, they do seem to have pretty good
deals, for some odd reason, on contract overrun/surplus Euro military
under-gear/-wear that you might find useful.

Ken's taller than I am, but it might do for him.

Oh, thanks - THERE'S a good morning image - Ken in an "underdress"....

Thanks for the snipped clue. Never thought of the night shirts.

I've got a friend who has shopped there, both at their retail outlet
and online. He says they'll rip you off at the final register if they
can. Specials wind up showing as regular price on the sales slip.
He's into old and new military stuff and says that you have to be very
alert when the final amount shows up and carefully total it and stay
aware of their specials when before you pay.
