Default After work...

I stopped for a couple of hours today, on Boone's Fork on the Parkway. I
caught a 'bow--8 or so inches-- on my first cast with a parachute Adams.
Missed a couple after that and, finally, hooked in to a nice one in a small
deep dark pool, but he took it under a large rock and apparently rapped the
tippet around a twig. I got the fly back, full of leaf gunk, but didn't
find out the size or species? I continued to fish the parachute Adams, but
wasn't getting anymore hits.

I decided to tie on a traditional Adams that I had tied myself. I had tied
it on a #18 hook, but its proportions were more like a #16. I fish out the
rest of my time with that fly and did quite well. I caught a number of
browns on it and all were over 10 inches. I know 10 inch trout are scoffed
at out West and on the famous northern streams, but Boone's Fork on the
Parkway is a very small stream, so I'm tickled to catch anything over 6
inches. The section I fished today isn't too far from the stream's source
on Grandfather Mountain. The real nice thing is that I was the only one on
the stream this eve. A trail parallels the stream and is frequented by
daytrippers and hikers this time of the year, but apparently the darkening
skies had kept the tourrerists and Floridiot move-ins in-doors.

My last brown of the day was a good 14 inches or better, so I decided to
call it a day as the clouds were threatening. Ran into one helluva storm on
the way home. Lots of lightning and many drops the size of water balloons.

Mark
