wrote: What is your preferred rod or pole material of choice ? You are asking the wrong question(s) imo. What matters is the action of the rod and it's fitness for the job you are asking of it. On Sunday I went to sea with three rods, one was some sort of carbon fibre, the one I used most was glassfibre and I don't know what the other is made from. For eg it is hard to find a slow actioned carbon or boron rod that is not also soft (You cannot cast freelined breadcrust with a centrepin using a fast actioned rod.) If you want a good backbone with a soft action then glass and even built cane are excellent. If otoh you are using a stretchy line at range then you probably want a heavy, stiff matrix to set the hook. If a very light line at short range then softness is a virtue. #1. Bamboo #2. Fiberglass #3. Graphite #4. Boron #5. OTHER As for me it is Graphite & Boron. Why? -- |
