Watch the fishing reports at Galveston Daily News and pick a peir...unless
this is supposed to be a really cheap trip. A ferry ride over to the ship
and peir would be a cool trip if you had enough adults.

And you probably need a parent willing to donate enough to cover all the
fees involved.

Although that reminds me of when I did that in 4th grade and we were bass
fishermen from Dallas then. I pulled up a little hardhead cat and reached
down like you would a perch, grabbed it around the sides with my palm over
the dorsal fin and, wham! got stuck with their poisonous little spines. I
apparently screamed and threw it straight up in the air. When it came down,
it raked my head and that started bleeding, too (or two...). A few hours and
a tetanus shot later from the Galveston hospital, or trip was truly over.

Although it was neat getting to see the guy with a harpon stuck through his
stomach.

Weren't those the days? Now my kids are starting 3rd & 5th and inflicting
the same damage on me...except mine got me to coach their baseball teams,
too! One had two casts in the Spring season -- literally got a new one on
his foot while in to have the one on his arm taken off :)

Advice needed - I am NOT a fishing type, but I have a herd in a youth

group
(5th graders) who want to go fishing in the Galveston Bay area. I need
recommendations for a good time and location suitable for this age group.
The prelim plan is for a Saturday trip - morning or evening, depending on
recommendations and such.

Basically, I need all the help I can get.
