Default Fine colored wire

At this point in history the fly shops all have copper wire, of medium
size, in various colors, but I'm looking for colored wire of similar
nature in much finer gauge. I've taken to getting my ribbing wire by
stripping out phone wire and using the individual strands of copper,
which are smaller than what comes on spools in fly shops and great for
small flies, but I want some colored ( mainly a reddish brown )
Seems I've seen what I want in the windings of various electrical
gadgets I've broken over the years but I don't have a clue what type
of store to shop in or what to ask for to find this wire on spools.

Suggestions?
