Default To catch peeler crab Help

I am planning to put old tyres out for peeler crab and hope someone can help
me with the following info.
Are ridge tiles better than tyres?
How long will it take to establish themselves?
What ground is best, sand, mud, stoney beaches. Are river estuaries any good?
How often should they be checked?

Thanks
Tom
