![]() "riverman" wrote in message ... "Bones" wrote in message ... right.. a 2 pound benito, but it was fun. My son stuck this fish and released him. Cabo has changed I doubt I will go back. Anyone fish the Loreto area ? http://www.troutflies.com/rofft/cabo/marlin.shtml Harry Mason www.troutflies.com I hear Bonito are particularly fun to catch, even at 2 pounds. Was that Striped Marlin caught on a fly, btw? That looked like a *real* blast! --riverman Ever hear of the hookless billfish lure? It's called a "Hurricane." It's no more than the typical "squid clone" trolling lure, except that the skirt is made of fine strands of nylon--like the stuff comprising soft nylon rope. Because of the overlapping-plate construction of the fish's bill, like that of a rhino, the fine strands are able to entangle the billfish when it comes to strike the lure. From what I've heard, once the fish is brought alongside the boat, it's no big deal to remove the lure. I don't know when the Hurricane was invented, but I think I heard of it back in the mid-'80's. It's like the perfect C&R lure for billfish--no blood let. Too bad there isn't something as effective for trout fishing. Dave E. |
